Captain Planet Movie On The Way At Sony

Mmm... that chiseled chin
With our powers combined, we finally have good news about our favourite green-haired eco-warrior. The folks over at Sony have announced that a film adaption of the 90's animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers. The series focused on a group of teenagers from around the world who are chosen by Gaia to defend the earth from pollution etc. When the problem is too big for them to handle, they combine their powers and call upon Captain Planet, a superpowered elemental warrior who uses the powers of Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Heart to defeat the villains.

I do like Captain Planet, and the series was well done. With voice of Whoopi Goldberg as Gaia, and a special appearance by Neil Patrick Harris in one epsiode, the series was extremely popular around the world. Though we have seen sort of a sneak peek when Don Cheadle played Captain Planet in a Funny Or Die sketch, we haven't really had any live-action adaption. I hope Sony does this well.

Marvel Apparently Looking To Talk With Vin Diesel

PUT ME IN YOUR MOVIE NOW!
Okay, I know that some of you guys don't like superhero posts, but I felt this needed to be shared. Action superstar Vin Diesel took to his Facebook page today and said that “Marvel has requested a meeting… no idea what for… haha, you probably know better than me…” Seems interesting. Diesel has always been a favourite of mine, and I'd love to see him in a superhero movie.

Diesel, best known for his roles in the Fast & Furious series and The Chronicles of Riddick, is only in early talks at the moment. This doesn't mean he's definitely going to be in a Marvel movie, but it is an interesting idea. To have Marvel look for someone like Diesel for a character is promising for more big, buff characters. Fans have already speculated what characters Diesel could play, including the main villain for The Avengers 2 Thanos. I can't wait to hear more of this.

Knight Rider Movie Adaption On The Way

Is he driving with his feet?
It seems like 80's TV fans have another reboot to look forward to as a film adaption of Knight Rider is in the works. Currently, The Weinstein Company owns the rights to Knight Rider, and it was announced the Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs) is attached to write the script.

The series originally starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a detective who was brought back to life as a high-tech crime fighter, fighting alongside his vehicle sidekick K.I.T.T. Hasselhoff has said in the past he wants to be involved in one way or another, but there is no word on whether William Daniels (the voice of K.I.T.T.) will come back.

I've always loved the concept behind Knight Rider, but never got around to watching it myself. I can't wait to see how this film turns out.

First Trailer For The LEGO Movie Released

Town may or may not be included
I know I'm late on this, but the first trailer for The LEGO Movie was released earlier this week. The story revolves around Emmet, an ordinary LEGO man who is mistaken for the only person who can save the world from the evil President Business, and gets help along the way from various LEGO characters. This is LEGO's first big movie, and it looks amazing.

The trailer gives a basic run-down of the story, as told by a very holy-looking character, perfectly voiced by Morgan Freeman, as well as giving us a look at some of Emmet's LEGO allies, including Batman, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a 1980's astronaut. This movie is going to be great, and the sets are amazingly crafted. I can't wait for it.

Here's the trailer:

Ubisoft Looking For Far Cry, Rabbids and Watch Dogs Movie Adaptions

This is how we should all get around
A lot has been happening in the gaming world in the past few days with the E3 expo going on. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have all announced big news regarding games and consoles, but what most interests me is what Ubisoft has in mind. With Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon being set up for film adaptions, the French game studio is apparently looking at some other properties to get the same treatment. Ubisoft wants their games Far Cry, Rabbids and Watch Dogs to be adapted into feature films.

Far Cry has been adapted before, starring Til Schweiger as the protagonist, but it would be interestinng to see how they make the new one. Rabbids has always been a favourite of mine, and I see the Rabbids similar to the Minions in Despicable Me. As for Watch Dogs, it could be something along the lines of The Bourne Identity crossed with The Matrix. As for now, we don't know much except that they're planning it. Let's just wait and see.

21 Jump Street Sequel Called, You Guessed It, 22 Jump Street

Starring Fabio and Eminem.
Movies that have numbers in their titles are always hard to name when it comes to sequels. 300 dodged a bullet when they announced their upcoming sequel/spin-off 300: Rise of the Empire. Today's news came as a bit of a shock, but actually quite expected. It was announced that the sequel to 2012's comedy hit 21 Jump Street, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, will be called 22 Jump Street.

Not much is known about this film quite yet, except that it will find Tatum and Hill infiltrating a college, and that Ice Cube will return as Captain Dickson. I loved the first film, but haven't got around to watching the original series yet, even though it kick-started Johnny Depp's career. I can't wait for this to come out, but I'll have to until June 2014.

First Images From The Black Comedy 'Birdman' Starring Michael Keaton

Keaton followed by Beetlejuice Batman Birdman
Let me start by saying this is not a superhero movie in the common sense. The story follows an old actor (played by Michael Keaton) who is famous for playing an iconic superhero (Birdman) in a movie who is struggling to mount a Broadway play, and has to deal with his family and his ego. I'm excited for this movie, and I love Keaton.

These images show Keaton being followed by his superhero character in the streets of New York. It's unclear whether Birdman is just a figment of Keaton's imagination, or someone dressed as Birdman is actually following him. I'm leaning towards the first one. But, the detail on the suit is amazing, and the costume designer should be proud.

New Bond Film Gets It's Bond Girl; Director Still Unconfirmed

I've got a gun. Your argument is invalid.
This week has been big for the 24th James Bond film. Early this week, we had rumours of directors like Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive), Ang Lee (Life of Pi) and Shane Black (Iron Man 3) were being considered. Then, Skyfall director Sam Mendes, who previously stated he wouldn't come back, was in talks to come back for the new Bond film, and even the one after (maybe). I think Mendes is a great choice, Skyfall was by far the best Bond film, so bringing him back would be best for Bond.

Now that's out of the way, earlier today we got news of the next Bond girl. Yahoo! reports that Oscar-winning actress Penélope Cruz (Vicky Christina Barcelona, Pirates of the Carribean 4) will be the Bond girl in the next film. For those who don't know what a Bond girl is, it's basically the lead actress/actresses in each Bond film.

With filming on the new Bond film beginning next year, we should expect it to be out by 2015, 2016 at the most.

The Expendables 3 Gets 4 New Cast Members

Alright, I'm in.
The third installment to the hit action film series starring everybody' favourite 80's action stars has found more action stars to star. The Expendables 3, produced by  Sylvester Stallone, has signed on four more big names to the roster. These are Wesley Snipes, Jackie Chan, Milla Jovovich and audience favourite, Nicolas Cage. I love all of these actors, and finally, we're getting gender equality in this.

There have been rumours going around for a while about Snipes, Chan and Cage being in this, but this is the first I've heard about Jovovich, and I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm glad to see Stallone finally adding a female into the mix. And this gives us more of an idea of how the all-female Expendables would work, maybe it could be a spin-off of this. Either way, I'm excited to see it.
